ABOUT TOP MSFIT

We understand that it can be VERY HARD to break into this competitive industry, so we work hard to provide a home for passionate storytellers who are keen to get their stories into the world, but are still building their experience. We nurture bold, innovative voices, specifically championing writers from neurodivergent, disabled, and underrepresented communities.

After years of working alongside the Big Decision-Makers, we have switched sides and now bring writers valuable industry secrets and intel to help set them up for success, tailoring our feedback reports to enhance projects and put writers ahead of the game amongst the crowd of submissions.

We champion the Misfits! Strongly believing that the world needs more bold, innovative stories, we're here to help writers flourish so they’re able to break barriers, elevate their craft, and create work that leaves a positive lasting mark on the world.

TOP MSFIT is a dedicated Story Consultancy,

providing professional TV & Film services to aid passionate emerging storytellers.

Ultimately, our goal is to increase a writer’s chances of success without sacrificing the spark that makes them truly unique.

FOUNDER & CEO

Racquel King

“Sometimes there's only one line between a good story and a GREAT story"

  • My Career began with a passion for stories.

I studied TV and Film Production, Scriptwriting and Mass Communication, whilst volunteering on low-budget Theatre, Music videos and Film productions.

I started my first job at Moving Picture Company (MPC Film), working as a Crew Assistant for huge projects, such as; Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Lion King 2, The Little Mermaid and Transformers Rise of the Beast (IMDB here).

I continued my career at UKTV and The BBC, where I was privileged enough to study Script Editing on Eastenders, and worked within Drama & Children's Commissioning; providing valuable Script Editor notes, Coverage reports and Feedback on submissions.

Essentially it's my job to help the Commissioners determine which ideas are rejected and which ones get Green-lit.

I’ve moved on to become a key member in the BBC Ignite team, working on 12 unique animation projects; aiding the development of ideas and working alongside Creators, designers and writers, to grow projects from the initial idea, all the way to the finish product.

  • 1) I have Dyslexia.

Although this gave me an enhanced imagination, I still experienced the frustration and difficulties attached to having a mind that works differently, but with the motivation of key people in my life that saw my talent and potential, I was able to follow my love of storytelling straight into a exciting career, and use my unique mind to connect with other Creatives.

My purpose is to use my differences in order to champion and empower other’s who also have differences, as well as a strong passionate for what they do.

    2) My all-time favourite movie is The Matrix

This movie was ahead of it’s time and is still just as impressive as it was when it was first released, a true example of a story written for the Misfits.

    3) I am an Only Child.

I spent ALL my childhood diving into amazing stories, watching cool movies and TV shows, that still inspire me today.

WHY DO YOU NEED A CONSULTANT ?

  • Pre-empts Rejections with Insider-Level Notes✅

Commissioners and development execs often reject projects for issues that could have been addressed early — tone clashes, underdeveloped arcs, or unclear formats. A story consultant provides the same level of internal “coverage” that commissioning teams use, giving producers a realistic view of how their project might be received before it’s submitted.

  • Adds an External Eye Without the Politics✅

Sometimes internal teams are too close to a project to see its blind spots. A consultant provides objective, honest feedback without the internal dynamics of writers’ rooms or exec teams — making it easier to make tough decisions or explore bold changes.

  • Strengthens Pitches for Broadcasters and Investors✅

Polished treatments and Bibles help producers stand out. With tailored feedback and actionable suggestions, a story consultant helps shape materials that feel clearer, sharper, and more viable, giving decision-makers confidence from page one.

  • Saves Time and Resources in Development✅

Getting stuck in development loops or chasing unclear notes can cost time and money. A consultant helps identify structural issues early, speeding up the refinement process and keeping teams focused on the projects with real potential.

  • Futureproofs Projects in a Tougher Martket ✅

Commissioning trends shift fast. A good story consultant stays across industry expectations, audience trends, and platform differences — helping producers develop material that’s better positioned for today’s market, whether that's for BBC, Netflix, Channel 4, or beyond.
